Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms

Type 2 Diabetes is often termed as pre-diabetes as it develops slowly and remains unidentified for quite a long time. Type 2 diabetes symptoms are; excessive thirst and hyperglycemia. The high level of glucose in blood absorbs body fluid and due to this the water content in body tissues gets reduced considerably. This is one of the causes of other diabetes symptoms called dehydration due to extreme thirst and frequent urination.

The characteristics of Type 2 Diabetes are little different from type 1 Diabetes. Type 2 occurs because of irresponsible nature of body tissues to insulin, and affect collectively with insulin resistance. The defect in the body response to insulin is assumed to be involving insulin receptor. The insulin sensitivity at early stages of Type 2 brings abnormality. At this stage hyperglycemia can be reversed by preventive measures and proper medications, which help in improving insulin sensitivity and reduction in glucose formation by the liver. Usually type 2 diabetes symptoms are not found but if they are, they are almost similar to that of type 1 Diabetes symptoms.

Type 2 Diabetes Symptoms may include:

  • Blurry vision: Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemia Nonketotic Syndrome is the condition when body fluid is pulled out of tissues. This occurs due to imbalance in blood glucose level. The fluid from lenses of the eye is absorbed which affects its ability to focus, resulting in blur vision.
  • Increased Fatigue: Due to low or no insulin, cell of the body becomes inefficient in metabolizing Glucose and utilizes fat of body to gain energy. Hence body goes in negative calorie effect, which results in fatigue.
  • Polydipsia and Polyuria: Diabetes is the result of concentration of large amount of glucose in blood. Brain receives fewer signals and gets signal to dilute it and this counter activity makes the patient feel thirsty. Excessive glucose leads to urine production so that this glucose can be excreted. This excretion removes large amount of water and leads to dehydration.
  • Polyphegia: Insulin is the hormone which stimulates hunger. But in the case of Diabetes, sugar levels are high in blood and to cope with it, insulin leads to increased hunger.

Apart from these indications, there are some more Type 2 diabetes symptoms due to the imbalance in blood-glucose level. The loss of water and utilization of fats leads to weight loss. The increased appetite is again one of the diabetes symptoms because of no breakdown of glucose. Similarly, because of insufficient amount of glucose reaching brain makes the patient feel tired and lethargic.

A person having any of these diabetes symptoms must visit doctor, as the disease can be checked to an extent. The incurable disease can be fatal if not taken complete care and preventive measures.
